Questions raised on MiG-21
Accidents involving MiG-21 aircraft have increased in the last few years. These aircraft have been in the Indian Air Force fleet since the 1960s and are now being phased out.
Still, repeated accidents have earned the MiG-21 nicknames such as 'flying coffin'.
Experts believe that the use of aircraft like the MiG-21 is now becoming risky and the government should immediately phase them out and induct new generation fighter aircraft.

Government help and family status
The central government has announced a financial assistance of Rs 50 lakh to the family of the martyred pilot, a government job to one of the relatives, and a special scholarship for the education of children.
The state government also arranged for the funeral with state honors.

When the body reached his village in Meerut, every eye became moist. Thousands of people came out on the road with slogans of 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai' and 'Shaheed Amar Rahein'.
Army personnel gave him a final farewell with a 21-gun salute.
Need for policy changes for soldiers
This incident of the martyred pilot once again strengthens the demand for a review of defense policies. Experts say that now the time has come when:
Old aircraft should be phased out.
Fighter aircraft and helicopters equipped with modern technology should be brought into service.
The level of training should be made more practical and accurate
