According to a Rashtrapati Bhavan statement, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju was assigned additional responsibility for the Ministry of Food and Processing Industries on Wednesday as a result of Pashupati Kumar Paras' retirement from the Union Council of Ministers.
In addition to his current position as Minister of Earth and Sciences, President Droupadi Murmu assigned Rijiju the ministry of food processing industries.
As minister of food processing industries, Union Minister Pashupati resigned on Tuesday. With his Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party (RLJP), the minister charged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was committing "injustice" by keeping it out of the seat-sharing agreement with allies for the Lok Sabha elections in Bihar.
After the BJP-led NDA announced its seat-sharing agreement and awarded five seats to the LJP (Ram Vilas) led by Chirag Paswan, disregarding the claims of his side, Pashupati Kumar tendered his resignation.
