On July 21, Israel's Arrow 3 missile defence system successfully intercepted a surface-to-surface missile fired from Yemen, aimed at the Israeli Red Sea city of Eilat. This interception followed an air raid alarm in Eilat, prompting residents to seek shelter.

The attack was claimed by Yemen's Houthi movement, which stated it targeted Eilat with multiple missiles. This incident is part of a broader escalation between Israel and the Iran-backed Houthis. It followed an Israeli airstrike on Saturday targeting Houthi military positions near Yemen's Hodeidah port. This airstrike resulted in at least three deaths and 87 injuries.

The Israeli airstrike was a retaliatory action in response to a long-range drone attack launched by the Houthis, which struck central Tel Aviv on Friday, killing one person and injuring four others. Israeli officials have cited over 200 Houthi attacks on Israel as part of the ongoing conflict.

These developments highlight the growing concerns that the conflict in Gaza, which began with a Hamas-led attack on Israel on October 7, could potentially escalate into a larger regional conflict.
