In their opening Super Eight encounter of the T20 World Cup in North Sound on June 19, South Africa will face a determined USA, and they won't have any room for error with their elite hitters eager to show off their skills.

With their bowlers carrying the bulk of the workload in each of the team's four games, the Proteas have won all four of their tournament matches.

They've played three games on the difficult New York tracks and one in Kingstown, South Africa, and haven't once gone over the 120-run mark.

However, the club, which features some powerful hitters like Quinton de Kock, Henriech Klassen, Tristan Stubbs, and David Miller, is not reflected in their batting statistics.

De Kock, Reeze Hendricks, and captain Aiden Markram could still feel pressure to perform, though.

In their most recent match, South Africa narrowly defeated Nepal, and with the likes of West Indies, the hosts, and reigning champions England in Group 2, the Proteas cannot afford to lose to the United States. They want to go into the Super Eight with a winning record.

Anrich Nortje's dismal form was South Africa's biggest worry heading into the World Cup, but the star pacer turned things around with some amazing performances in the group stage and is now tied for second place in the standings with nine wickets.

Along with fellow pacer Ottneil Baartman, Nortje makes quite a fearsome combination. Kagiso Rabada and Marco Jansen will also be ready to give the inexperienced American hitters some trouble.

After qualifying for the Super Eights in their first participation, co-host USA—an eclectic blend of eight Indians, two Pakistanis, a West Indian, one New Zealander, a South African, and a Dutchman—are currently enjoying a dream run.

They have engaged in aggressive cricket play.

They will be monitoring captain Monank Patel's health, since he was ruled out of playing against Ireland owing to a niggle and missed the game against India.

They will be keen to cause another upset after defeating former champions Pakistan in the league stage. While it may be a daunting task, the spirited bunch are ready for the challenge, "Definitely looking forward to the challenge (of Super Eight) for sure. Over the last couple of weeks, we've shown that obviously we could definitely compete and beat some of the full member nations," USA vice-captain Aaron Jones had said last week.
