Positive reviews for the film were received even before its premiere, and according to Pinkvilla, it is now this year's best-selling Hindi title in terms of advance booking. This accomplishment puts the film ahead of Shaitan, Badhe Miya Chote Miya, and Fighter.

The Janhvi Kapoor-Rajkummar Rao debut film brought in a total of ₹2.15 lakh in advance reservations, according to the website Pinkvilla. Even the movie tickets, which were reduced to ₹99, were sold in great quantities. Sacnilk predicts that Mr. & Mahi, a sports love drama, would do well at the movie office. Dharma Productions, led by Karan Johar, is responsible for producing the film.

Sacnilk reports that as of May 30, the film had sold over 1,50,000 tickets at the three national chains (PVR, INOX, and Cinepolis). It is estimated that the film sold almost two million tickets in advance at national chains.
