Senior party leader A Raja's remarks on the slogans "Jai Shri Ram" and "Bharat Mata ki Jai" as well as the statement "we are enemies of Ram" have sparked a new controversy, coming days after Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) leader Udhayanidhi Stalin sparked controversy with his remarks on Sanatana Dharma. A Raja allegedly advocated for the "Balkanization of India...as well as made disparaging comments on Manipuris and questions the idea of India, as a nation," according to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

I think Ram is all-encompassing and a part of everyone."

BJP member of parliament Ravi Shankar Prasad attacked A Raja and the INDIA bloc harshly. The DMK has expressed its disagreement with the leader's comments regarding "Jai Shri Ram" and India, stating that "the hallmark of the alliance's political agenda has become questioning the very idea of India and humiliating Hindu Gods."
