The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Tuesday moved the civil services preliminary examination from May 26 to June 16 in anticipation of the 18th Lok Sabha elections, which are scheduled to begin on April 19. The UPSC administers the civil services test every year to choose officers for the Indian Police Service (IPS), Indian Administrative Service (IAS), and Indian Foreign Service (IFS), among other services.

"Due to the schedule of the impending general election, the commission has decided to postpone the civil services (preliminary) examination-2024 which also serves as screening test for Indian Forest Service examination, 2024, from 26-05-2024 to 16-06-2024," according to an official statement from the UPSC.

The General Studies and Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT) are the two shifts that the UPSC IAS written exams will be offered in. The CSAT will take place in the afternoon from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM, after the General Studies paper in the morning from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM.

At least ten days before the test, the UPSC IAS preliminary admit card for 2024 will be made available. Using their registration number, candidates can download their UPSC Prelims hall ticket 2024 from the official website
