After being struck by a big vessel on Tuesday, the Francis Scott Key Bridge in the American city of Baltimore partially collapsed, sending many cars and at least seven people into the Patapsco River. The event happened in the early morning hours.

So far, two people have been pulled out of the river, according to James Wallace, the chief of Baltimore Fire Department. According to him, one was gravely injured, while the other was not.
Maryland's Baltimore is a major port city for the United States.
The Maryland Transportation Authority verified the occurrence and declared that all lanes on the Key Bridge will be closed as a result. According to an official post on 'X' (formerly Twitter), traffic is being diverted. Important traffic notice for Baltimore:

On social media, a video of the incident that was captured on camera is also becoming popular. The bridge collapsed into the river due to the impact of a heavy vessel, as shown in the roughly 30-second footage. The footage also revealed that the hit started a huge fire on the ship.
The catastrophe is said to have been caused by the ship, which is apparently a cargo ship, striking one of the bridge's supporting pillars.

Both Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski Jr. and Mayor Brandon M. Scott said that rescue operations were in progress and that emergency services were on the way.
"Emerging mass casualty" incident
At least five individuals are thought to have been struck underwater as of right now. The rescue operations, according to the officials, were under way.
The number of people who had fallen into the river after the incident was not immediately clear.
The Baltimore Fire Department's director of communications, Kevin Cartwright, described the fall as a "developing mass casualty event."
He declared, "This is a dire emergency."
